Job Description:

Join our pioneering Additive Manufacturing Team as an R&D Engineer, where you will spearhead the development of cutting-edge Large Scale Metal Additive Manufacturing (LSAM) applications using advanced six-axis robotic arms. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our flagship software, Aibuild, through innovative research and application of Wire-Arc and Wire-Laser robotic AM processes.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Innovative Research: Lead experimental research to advance the capabilities of Wire-Arc and Wire-Laser robotic LSAM technologies. Your work will directly influence the strategic direction and technical advancements of our Aibuild software platform.
  • Development and Testing: Design and execute detailed test plans to enhance software functionalities and integrate new features, ensuring alignment with the highest standards of quality and innovation.
  • System Operation and Maintenance: Manage and optimise the operation of metal AM systems within our lab to maintain an exemplary standard of reliability for testing and development.
  • Customer Collaboration: Provide expert consultation to customers, customising solutions and optimising their LSAM applications using Aibuild. Engage in co-development projects to address complex challenges and enhance user satisfaction.
  • Cross-functional Teamwork: Work closely with the Customer Success and Development teams to synchronise software improvements with customer needs, facilitating seamless integration and functionality.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in professional welding, additive manufacturing, or metal fabrication.
  • Advanced proficiency in CAD modelling and design.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Exceptional problem-solving capabilities, both theoretical and applied.
  • Strong autonomous work ethic complemented by the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to demystify complex technical details for a varied audience.
  • Must be based in the UK; this is an office-based role in East London.

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience in robotics or CAM software.
  • Knowledge of geometry and computational geometry, particularly as it applies to LSAM processes.
